Lead Guitar - Devon Pelley
Let me set the scene:
About two months ago I wrote this song in a quick burst, in a way that for those of you who write songs, can probably appreciate doesn't happen too often. I was riding the high that comes with pumping out something you're very proud of. That night I stood in an alleyway with Devon Pelley (Whiplash Guitar Extraordinaire) just outside a friend's place near Queen/Bathurst. I was so eager to get this song out that right there in the cold, in the alley, I took out my guitar and played for him. Seeing the reaction that these songs get is always a motivator for me, and the look on his face, and his words that followed continue to fuel this song, through the demo you're about to hear, and into the future when this one day sees a proper release.
lyrics
Twenty-five years of Twenty-five memories
C'mon be telling me, what did you want to be in '79?
Twenty-five years all intergalactic
On the weekly wage, it's all the rage to get higher than high.
No one's gonna tell you about it
But I'm pretty sure someone should tell you about it
Make good choices, lovers do
But darling, sometimes it ain't much about you
In the dollhouse, when they shake it up
I was sitting on the train tracks 'neath the DVP
Between this side and Leaside, the colour of your teeth
C'mon be telling me, what did you want to be in '79?
But if you're asking me, I never wanna be
caught on the other side of that line
No one's gonna tell you about it
But I'm pretty sure someone should tell you about it
Make good choices, lovers do
But darling, sometimes it ain't much about you
In the dollhouse, when they shake it up
Twenty-five years, and twenty-five stars
Hell, none of it's perfect, but all of it's ours
I was sitting on the train tracks 'neath the DVP
And either/or I never could afford one of those automobiles flyin over me
No one's gonna tell you about it
But I'm pretty sure someone should tell you about it
Make good choices, darling do do
But damnit! This time it's just not about you
In the dollhouse, when they shake it up
They're shaking it up
Ah! They're gonna shake it around
